How to qualify for rewards

Earning your rewards is simple. Complete the following activities in your Power Checking account:

  • Have a qualifying total monthly direct deposit post and settle each month
    Power Checking must have at least $1,000 in total direct deposit
    PowerPlus Checking must have at least $3,500 in total direct deposit
  • Login to AFFCU online or mobile banking at least once per month

It’s that simple. If you don’t qualify, don’t worry. Your account is still free. Plus, you can always get back to earning rewards the month.

Checking FAQs

As a new member or member adding a new checking account, a debit card will be ordered for you and any joint account members by the representative opening your account. They will ship to you within 7-10 business days. Or you may come into the branch to have an instant issue card created on-site.

Current checking account members that need a new debit card have a few options:

  1. Complete the simple Debit Card application form online
  2. Call us at 410-584-7474 to request a new card
  3. Come in-branch to have an instant issue card created on-site

Enrolling in e-statements is easy. Log into your AFFCU online banking account via a desktop PC or laptop (cannot be completed via AFFCU mobile banking app). Click on the e-statement tab in the top navigation. Simply follow the prompts to enroll which include providing your email address and accepting the terms and conditions. Once completed you will be successfully enrolled in e-statements. Note: a new tab or window will open upon clicking the e-statements tab. To ensure it opens, be sure to enable pop-ups in your browser security settings for this website.

1 Power Checking Account Reward Information: When Power Checking account qualifications are met during a monthly qualification period, you will receive 2.00% cash back on applicable AFFCU Visa debit card purchases (PIN-based and signature-based) on the first $500.00 spent, that post and settle to the account during the monthly statement period. A maximum of $10.00 cash back may be earned per monthly statement period. To qualify to earn the monthly Power Checking cash back rewards, the member must 1) login to online or mobile banking account at least one (1) time each month and 2) have a monthly cumulative total of $1,000 or more in direct deposit post to their checking account each month. Direct deposits must be received by 5:00 PM (ET) on the last business day of the current month in order to qualify. Account transactions and activities may take one or more days to post and settle to the account and all must do so during the monthly qualification period in order to qualify for the account’s rewards.
The following activities do not count toward earning account rewards: ATM-processed transactions; transfers between accounts; debit card purchases processed by merchants and received by Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union as ATM, PIN-based, or Bill Payment transactions; signature based transactions and purchases made with non-Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union issued debit cards.
When Power Checking qualifications are not met, no cash back payments are rewarded. Cash back payments will be credited to your Power Checking account on the last day of statement cycle. “Monthly qualification period” means a period beginning on the first day of the calendar month through last day of the current calendar month. Account approval, conditions, qualifications, limits, timeframes, enrollments, log-ons and other requirements apply. Enrollment in and monthly access of online/mobile banking are conditions of the Power Checking account. 2 PowerPlus Checking Account Reward Information: APY = Annual Percentage Yield and is accurate as of 5/01/2020. To qualify to earn the monthly PowerPlus Checking high-interest reward, the member must 1) login to online or mobile banking account at least one (1) time each month and 2) have a monthly cumulative total of $3,500 or more in direct deposit post to their checking account each month. Direct deposits must be received by 5:00 PM (ET) on the last business day of the current month in order to qualify. When the PowerPlus Checking account qualifications are met during a monthly qualification period, the balances up to $12,000 receive APY of 3.00%; and balances over $12,000 earn 0.15% interest rate on the portion of balance over $12,000, resulting in a range from 0.45% to 3.00% APY depending on the account’s balance. When PowerPlus Checking qualifications are not met, all balances in the account earn 0.05% APY. Dividends will be credited to your PowerPlus Checking account on the last day of statement cycle. A maximum of $5.00 cash back may be earned per monthly statement period. To qualify to earn the monthly Journey Checking cash back rewards, the member must be eligible for a Journey Account and login to online or mobile banking account at least one (1) time each month. Account transactions and activities may take one or more days to post and settle to the account and all must do so during the monthly qualification period in order to qualify for the account’s rewards.

4 ATM Fee Information: Power Checking, PowerPlus Checking, and Journey Checking accounts are eligible to receive up to five (5) free foreign ATM transactions per month. A foreign transaction fee is a fee issued by Atlantic Financial when you use another financial institution’s or operator’s ATM (an ATM that is not an AFFCU or CO-OP Network ATM, or one of our local credit union partners ATMs). A surcharge-fee may be applicable, and the members responsibility to pay, if charged by the financial institution or ATM operator.
