Loan Processor


The Loan Processor is responsible for timely maintenance of all credit union member loans. The Loan Processor protects the interests of the credit union and limits risk exposure by ensuring that all loan collateral is insured.


Job Type: Full Time

Department: Lending


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Setting up consumer loans that come into the Lending Department through the Internet, Branch and Call Center. Placing any additional information into ELA, and pulling credit report. Reviewing credit reports to see if credit is acceptable.
  • Placing loans in Queue Application by priority.
  • On denied loans, mailing out the Notice of Adverse Action to the members
  • Post closing, it will be the responsibility to review the documents for accuracy and proper signatures. Confirm all stipulations/conditions of loans have been met. Doc Image all loan documents.
  • Fund the loan and disburse accurately per instructions of Loan Specialists, Lending Manager
  • Work on outside "indirect" auto loans and complete them in ELA for loan to be funded. Verify incoming loans for accurate financials and rates, appropriate approvals, documents, disclosures, and signatures, and follow-up with these items as needed before filing the loan
  • Send Initial Disclosures on Home Equity products
  • Provide back-up assistance in the department, filling in as needed for other positions
  • Assist in meeting the objectives for the department as set forth in the credit union's strategic plan
  • Independently applies and carries out policies and procedures within assigned area of responsibility
  • Cross-sell credit union products and services based on member needs
  • Comply with credit union policies for all employees, including fraud policy and computer usage policy
  • Complete consumer loan closing in person or electronically
  • Attend credit union training as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Competencies/Qualifications:


  • Intermediate computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, and Excel required
  • Experience the Symitar operating system is preferred
  • Ability to learn and use vendor software, external websites, and company's core processing system.
  • Ability to work accurately with numbers and perform intermediate mathematical calculations with accuracy.
  • Experience with a 10-key calculator is required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to exercise judgment, logic, and initiative with integrity
  • High degree of accuracy with attention to detail required
  • Ability to interpret and explain instructions, policies, processes and procedures
  • Creative problem-solving skills to effectively identify and resolve loan issues with member accounts
  • Communicate and interact with members and co-workers in a professional, courteous and confidential manner
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skill
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and manage stressful situations with patience and courtesy

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum two years experience in a financial institution; specifically working with loans in lending or branch operations
  • Minimum two years of customer service experience/call-center environment preferred
  • Must be bondable and maintain bondability throughout employment with the credit union
  • Advanced knowledge of credit union loan processing, preferably in Symitar systems

Loan Specialist

  • Verify incoming loans for accurate financials and rates, appropriate approvals, documents, disclosures, and signatures, and follow-up with these items as needed before filing the loan
  • Approve loans according to appropriately assigned lending authority.
  • Scan all supporting loan documents and maintain digital records on file
  • Respond to inquiries from members and employees on issues with existing loans
  • Research and actively resolve problems with current loans.
  • Provide back-up assistance in the department, filling in as needed for other positions
  • Assist with testing of new loan processes and procedures
  • Assist in meeting the objectives for the department as set forth in the credit union's strategic plan
  • Independently applies and carries out policies and procedures within assigned area of responsibility
  • Cross-sell credit union products and services based on member needs
  • Maintain the inventory of loan related documents, review for updates, and re-order as needed
  • Comply with credit union policies for all employees, including fraud policy and computer usage policy
  • NMLS ID registration
  • Take, process and underwrite Home Equity products
  • Attend credit union training as required

Accounting Representative


The Accounting Representative is responsible for assisting with the day to day upkeep of the Credit Union's accounting function. This position will be responsible for maintaining the members' electronic accounts to ensure accurate member information. The position addresses a multitude of both accounting and clerical activities including general ledger reconciling, new member account audits and the maintenance of a wide variety of office and member documents. The Accounting Representative assists the Accounting Specialist and VP of Finance.

  • Maintain members' electronic account to include:
  • Bad address updates
  • Verifying NCOA Link address changes
  • Member statement requests
  • Automatic IRA Required Minimum Distributions
  • Dormant account letters
  • Social Security Administration Asset Verification requests
  • Pick up mail at Cockeysville/Hunt Valley US Post Office
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail utilizing appropriate postage, packaging, logging and distribution techniques
  • Audit new member accounts
  • Complete reconciliations for the general ledger accounts and for the ancillary checking accounts at correspondent bank
  • Process SEG payrolls
  • Complete the daily work and presented checks settlement
  • Post travelers/Gift Check activity
  • Remit EFTPS
  • Run the Positive Pay job and upload to correspondent bank
  • Input wire transfers
  • Process CD investment interest checks
  • Collaborate with the other members of the Finance and Technology Services department to support overall department goals and objectives
  • Support VP of Finance with special projects

Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Basic computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel required
  • Ability to learn and use vendor software, external websites, and credit union's core processing system.
