Managing Your Checking Account
This short class is a complete review of how checking accounts work and how to manage your money in your checking account so that you do not have overdrafts. Processing checks versus electronic transactions, deposit holds, and balancing your check book will be discussed. Any member is invited to attend but the class is specifically geared to those members that:
Have just opened a checking account for the first time
Is having difficulty in effectively managing their checking account to avoid penalty fees
Has had their checking account closed because of too many overdrafts.

AFFCU'S Financial Money Smarts for Young Adults
The Young Adult Money Smarts will discuss and review the importance and ease of savings and all issues surrounding the need for and appropriate use of credit services.
- the difference between banks and credit unions
- importance of saving
- how to responsibly handle checking accounts
- the pros and cons of credit and the need for good credit history
A light dinner will be served. All attendees receive a free AFFCU T-shirt and upon completing the evening course, attendees can sign up for a $500 VISA credit card and if they have a checking account, a $500 overdraft protection account. A share savings account of $25 is required to be eligible for these services. If the applicant is under the age of 21, a co-applicant might be required for the Visa and Overdraft.
